Why are we all encouraged to begin our year’s list of hopes and dreams at the same time as everyone else? I have never been one to appreciate this and its almost always a letdown. Besides the end of the year is way too busy to try to think about all the things that I need to get ticked off my list, after August it usually all feels like a blur. By the time it reaches November 1st and my youngest sister calls to brag about how she is finally finished with all her Christmas shopping, I realize that I have a lot more to get done than I thought, and I’m probably still wearing my Halloween costume.
I like to start my resolutions on my birthday. They feel more personal, and my birthday is in August, so when all those suckers are whining about how they haven’t even touched their resolutions I’m already 1/3 of the way through my list.
