I Am Not Sick

Whiskey, lemons, honey, and Echinacea tea. Nasal spray, aleve, tea tree oil and a nice warm hat. Chicken soup, popsicles, and sleeping on the couch while watching Bob’s Burgers. If you haven’t guessed by now I spent yesterday evening like a sick little baby.

I worked my usual shift knowing that I didn’t feel right. I did my best to contain the sickness but as soon as I clocked out I knew this was gonna be a bad one. I came home and settled into the couch with a nice hot tottie and some cartoons, but the pressure building in my head was too much to bear. I hate taking medicine of any sort so I first tried to steam it out of my face. It worked! I could breath now but it was quickly closing back up, so I broke down and used a nasal decongestant spray. Now I could breathe but the pain in my face was still awful. I broke down again and took an aleve, then settled back into the couch for a little nap.

I woke up after ten, but I felt better. My fella came over and made me some chicken soup and took the dog friend for a walk. I can’t even begin to tell you how amazing my little doggy is when I don’t feel well, he doesn’t even ask to go for a walk. He just politely does his business in the yard and comes back in to sleep with me until I feel better. And I’m so grateful for my fella, bringing me popsicles and picking up dog poop in little plastic bags.

I went to bed last night in socks, sweatpants, t-shirt, sweatshirt and a hat. I am a firm believer in sweating it out. I feel like most people my age do the same thing, wrapping themselves up and drinking hot whiskey til’ they pass out, maybe it’s the lack of health insurance. I feel better this morning, and I’m going to work. If I’m going to miss a day I prefer it be for something fun or something monetarily profitable, being sick is neither.

I was smack in the middle of a shoe-redo when I fell ill and I hope to finish up tonight, after the laundromat of course. Full speed ahead!
