Hi friends! I have big hopes for this week! Among many other things, I have been working on a way to keep my house clean in 20 minutes a day or less. I live alone, so technically it should be rather easy, but I feel like I really live in my house. I always have a kitchen table full of art supplies. I have a very nicely organized craft closet, but I almost always feel like I’m in the middle of something.
Also I love to cook, but I do not have a dishwasher. It’s much harder than you dishwasher owners know to actually wash your dishes. Maybe it’s just me. Let’s talk about the dog too, he’s black and the carpet is light. I feel like I could stand to vacuum more than I do.
After googling a 20 minute house cleaning, I took inspiration from this website.

My needs were a little different from the ones in this article, so I wrote down the basic things that need to get cleaned on a weekly basis. Then I used google docs to make a little spreadsheet to organize everything.
You will notice that dishes and surfaces are on the schedule every day. That’s because those are my two weakest areas. Everything on this list I do, but usually on the same day. A clean house should be attainable if I do a little something each day. I liked the suggestion to set a timer from the apartment therapy post. Twenty minutes, try to get everything on the list for the day done. Clean house! I plan to adjust the timer if needed, but overall this will eliminate the big cleaning day. I plan to start this evening when I get off work and I’ll let you all know how it goes.
Happy cleaning!
